Uxbridge is your local community arts centre. Established in 1981 specifically for the provision of arts and cultural services to the community – in 2014 Uxbridge will celebrate its 33rd anniversary.
It is governed by an elected Board comprising ten members and administered by 5 full time professional staff.
What Uxbridge Provides
Uxbridge provides a comprehensive range of community arts, leisure and learning services for all age groups. These include Art and Applied Art Classes and Workshops, year round Art Exhibitions, Music and other Performance events, a Cinema Club, special Events, Tours etc. Other popular types of leisure classes are run , eg Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Tai’ Chi, Dance etc. In addition spaces are hired to community groups. There is also a Café and Arts Gift Shop on site
Uxbridge presents regular top quality art exhibitions, community events and a full programme of performances in its iconic theatre.
Music concerts featuring acts such as Caitlin Smith, Nairobi Trio, Hot Club Sandwich and local performers are frequently scheduled – our “Classic@12” midday concerts are very popular. Regular theatre productions are presented during the year and the Uxbridge Cinema Club screens unusual quality films every 3 weeks. Interesting talks are often given, eg Chelsea Winters – New Zealand Masterchef . In addition there are many other events that take place , eg our annual XTreme Talent Quest is a major attraction
In 2012 and 2014 Uxbridge managed “Arts Festival Out East” – a comprehensive programme featuring the arts and culture providers of the Howick Local Board district with exhibitions, performances, events etc.
Uxbridge also produces many off site events, eg, the Botany Community Day, Exhibitions at Fo Guang Shan Temple and much more.

Twenty years experience as a Chartered Accountant, specialising in Strategic Consulting; until recently Managing Partner of Horwath Porter Wigglesworth, now Partner in WHK Gosling Chapman (formerly Horwath Porter Wigglesworth).
We have a busy on site café which is a real focus for the community usually full with people attending classes or events in the Centre having a break or others simply enjoying a coffee or lunch in the sun on the patio in front of Uxbridge or in the café itself. Evening Bistro is often combined with an evening event, eg Cinema Club or a concert
Uxbridge Arts Store
We have a shop in the Centre that sells a broad range of artist and designer applied art objects, cards, jewellery etc. Prices are very reasonable for unique high quality gifts or personal purchase. All items in the shop are New Zealand designed and many use natural or recycled materials
